Thank you for your interest in CASA of Allegany County! Our volunteers are at the heart of CASA and we could not do this work without them. We offer two ways to volunteer with CASA:
CASAs: Our volunteer advocates are our CASAs. They are appointed to a child by the court, visit their child and those involved with the case, gather case-related information and write court reports every time there is a court hearing. These advocates go through a 30 hour training where they learn about CASA and how we operate, are informed about court hearings and proceedings, are given guidance on interviewing parties to the case and are taught how to write court reports. CASAs agree to be appointed to their child for at least a year, or until the end of the case, and to dedicate 10-15 hours a month to their child's case.

Ambassadors: Our other volunteer opportunity is through our Ambassador program. Ambassadors help us staff and run fundraising and outreach events. We are constantly working to spread the word about CASA and raise funds for our program. Ambassadors help CASA have a presence at local events and are willing to talk with people about CASA and what we do. The Ambassadors do not have to go through training or commit to any certain amount of time. We post events to our Ambassador Facebook page and Ambassadors can volunteer by commenting on the event they are interested in or by messaging CASA through the Ambassador Facebook messenger.
