CASA of Allegany County is a 501(c)3 non profit organization, located in western Maryland. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA of Allegany County was founded in July 2012, and opened its doors in July 2013. CASA of Allegany County recruits and trains volunteers from the community to be an advocate for a foster child. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with the common interest in advocating for the best interest of a foster child. There are currently more than 100 children in foster care in Allegany County. Currently only 1 in 10 foster children have a CASA volunteer.
If you have 5-10 hours a month to volunteer, are at least 21 years of age, have a clean criminal history (excluding traffic violations), and would like to work with a foster child, then consider being a CASA! While the foster children we work with are from Allegany County, our volunteers are from Mineral County, Garrett County, Bedford, and Allegany County! Call our office for more information: 301-777-1262.
